Happy New Year. Welcome to 2026. In fact it is nearly 3 weeks into 2026, how did that happen? Oh yeah, I went to Ireland for Christmas.
I’m going to leave myself a hostage to fortune by saying I intend to finish a first draft of Eternal Warrior book 2 this year. I have nearly 60k words and another 15-20k should do it. I also intend to start sending Eternal Warrior book 1 out to smaller publishers this year. As a middle-aged white male epic fantasy author without a strong track record my chances of landing a major publisher are, as I learned at WFC, slightly worse than the chances of Southampton winning the Championship this season.
Speaking of Southampton I went to watch the Hull City game and I think my small punt on relegation back in September at 40/1 is looking increasingly smart.
So what should I write next? I have 20k of a standalone piece with a bounty hunter, pirates and dragons. Or, I could write a third Nandor book. Any thoughts?
